Wolverhampton Wanderers target Gil Vicente defender Marvin Elimbi

Wolverhampton Wanderers have identified 23‑year‑old French centre‑back Marvin Elimbi as a potential summer signing. The defender, currently under contract with Portuguese side Gil Vicente until 2028, has made 42 appearances for the club, including 28 in the Primeira Liga, and was acquired for just over £400,000 two years ago.

Manager Cesar Peixoto, who coached Elimbi at Gil Vicente, says a move would likely require Wolves to sell one of their own centre‑backs – such as Yerson Mosquera, Ladislav Krejci or Santiago Bueno – before a deal can be completed before the September 1 transfer‑window deadline. The club is preparing for an EFL Cup first‑round tie against Port Vale and a league match at Blackburn Rovers as they rebuild after relegation from the Premier League.
