Wolves cause alarm in Phyli and Chasia residential areas

Residents in the Phyli and Chasia areas of Greece are expressing intense concern following repeated sightings of wolves within residential zones. In Phyli, a wolf was recorded entering a playground near the Livadi area, moving through the settlement in search of food. The animal was startled by vehicle headlights before retreating into the night.

In Chasia, located at the foothills of Mount Parnitha, security footage has captured packs of wolves moving through neighborhoods. Local residents report that these encounters have resulted in the deaths of more than 10 stray dogs. Former deputy mayor of Phyli, Spyros Brempos, has called for urgent measures, stating that the presence of hungry wolves poses a direct risk to both residents and children.

The frequent descent of wildlife from the mountain towards inhabited areas is becoming a routine occurrence, raising questions about the safety of the local community and the impact on local fauna, including the red deer population of Parnitha.
