Authorities in the Sucre municipality of Trujillo state, Venezuela, have arrested 26-year-old Eglexy Yohana Delgado Rodríguez for the alleged cruel treatment of her 7-year-old son.

According to the Scientific, Penal and Criminalistic Investigation Corps (Cicpc), Delgado Rodríguez reportedly used chains to regularly restrain the child inside their home to prevent him from leaving. The suspect allegedly justified these actions by stating she did not accept the child's behavior.

The arrest took place in the José Gregorio Hernández sector of the Junín parish. The case has been handed over to the Public Ministry, which will lead the ongoing investigation to determine legal responsibilities.
