Woman diagnosed with early menopause after four years of symptoms
A 40-year-old woman in Vietnam was diagnosed with early menopause after experiencing symptoms for four years. The patient, identified as L. T. H., initially ignored the cessation of her menstrual cycle at age 36, assuming it was a temporary hormonal imbalance.
Over the following years, she suffered from severe physical and psychological symptoms, including frequent hot flashes, insomnia, skin dryness, and mood swings. These issues also negatively impacted her marital life. Upon seeking medical attention at the Hanoi Center for Gender Medicine, tests revealed a significant decline in ovarian function.
According to Dr. Pham Minh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Gender Medicine, early menopause is defined as menopause occurring before the age of 40. Medical experts note that this condition affects approximately 5-10% of women.
