Woman dies after falling from bridge in Santander

A woman died on Saturday, October 3, after falling from a wooden bridge at the Ventanas de Tisquizoque tourist attraction in Florián, Santander. The victim has been identified as Yulieth Esperanza Velázquez Arias.

The accident occurred around 4:20 p.m. while the woman was visiting the site with her family. She reportedly fell approximately four meters from an elevated wooden walkway onto a rocky area, sustaining a severe head injury that caused her death at the scene.

Witnesses at the location reported that the bridge was in an advanced state of deterioration and was missing several wooden planks, creating a hazardous walking surface. Authorities, including the Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación (CTI), have inspected the site and are investigating whether the structural condition of the bridge contributed to the fall.
