Woman dies after receiving excessive anesthetic during dental implant surgery

A woman in her 70s has died following a dental procedure involving the simultaneous implantation of 11 implants. According to family accounts and clinic camera footage, the patient experienced abnormal reactions approximately 16 minutes after receiving injections.

Emergency records indicate the clinic administered a total of 16 injections of Articaine, a local anesthetic. For a patient weighing 54 kg, the recommended maximum dose is approximately 380 mg; however, the total amount administered was recorded at 1,088 mg, nearly three times the safe limit.

The National Forensic Service (NFS) has suggested that the cause of death may be related to Articaine toxicity. The family reported that after the ninth injection, the patient raised both hands, after which medical staff reportedly secured her wrists to the chair.
