Woman dies during prison visit in Mexico City
A woman identified as Areli Guadalupe died during a visit to the Reclusorio Preventivo Varonil Oriente prison in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City. While visiting an inmate alongside her mother and daughter, she reportedly experienced breathing difficulties.
Prison medical staff responded to the emergency and performed an evaluation, including an electrocardiogram, but determined she had no vital signs. The Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) notified the General Prosecutor's Office (FGJCDMX) to initiate an investigation into the circumstances of the death.
Family members noted that the woman had a history of hypertension and had undergone an aesthetic liposuction procedure just one day prior to the visit. While authorities have not officially linked the surgery to her death, forensic studies and medical examinations will be conducted to determine the exact cause.
