Woman dies in white water rafting accident in Kuala Kubu Bharu
A 34-year-old woman died after a white water rafting boat capsized in Sungai Pertak, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. The incident occurred around 12:00 PM on Saturday when the raft, carrying the victim and five others, overturned at the first rapid.
According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the victim was swept away by the strong current and became trapped at the bottom of the river. Although companions attempted to free her from an underwater obstruction, she was later confirmed dead by Ministry of Health officials.
Emergency services from the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire and Rescue Station responded to the scene, eventually transporting the victim to a safe area near Kem Rimbayu before handing her over to the police. The body was sent to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital Forensic Unit. Hulu Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Manimaran Muniandi, confirmed the incident and advised recreational visitors to prioritize safety when engaging in water activities.
