Renato Iván Tavella arrested in connection with two femicides

Renato Iván Tavella, 28, has been arrested in a Buenos Aires hotel following a joint operation by the police of Córdoba and the City of Buenos Aires. He is the primary suspect in the deaths of two women, both of whom were reportedly sex workers.

The first victim, Daniela Villalba, 29, was found in her Córdoba apartment with multiple wounds to her neck and arms. The investigation into her death began after a suitcase containing blood-stained clothing was discovered in a trash container.

The second victim, Tatiana Micaela Fernández, 27, was found in a temporary rental apartment in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires. An autopsy determined her cause of death was mechanical asphyxia by compression. Investigators noted that Fernández's mobile phone was missing from the scene, a detail that mirrored the Villalba case.

Authorities identified Tavella through digital tracking and cell tower triangulation after he used a Córdoba-based phone number to arrange appointments via a dating application. At the time of his arrest in room 8 of the Hotel Centro, police seized two mobile phones, cash, and various personal items.
