Woman Found Dead in Valledupar After Disappearing on Birthday
31‑year‑old Yarleidys (also reported as Yasleidis) María Martínez Jiménez, a resident of La Paz in Cesar department, was reported missing on 17 July while traveling to Valledupar to celebrate her birthday with her partner. Hours later her naked body was discovered in the rural Las Casitas area of Valledupar.
Authorities are treating the case as a possible femicide. The victim’s boyfriend, Óscar Eduardo Rodríguez Amaya, who accompanied her from Barranquilla, was found with self‑inflicted injuries and is receiving medical care while being questioned. The body was examined by the Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación and transferred to the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses in Valledupar for autopsy. The Fiscalía will determine the legal classification as investigations continue.
Family members have called for a swift conclusion and for any femicide charges to be fully enforced.
