Woman in Campo Grande stabbed multiple times and attacked with hoe

A 40‑year‑old woman was seriously injured in the Nova Lima neighbourhood of Campo Grande, Brazil, after being stabbed more than eight times and struck with a hoe during an altercation on the night of 10 May. Police say the assault occurred after a gathering that involved alcohol consumption.

Investigators identified three suspects – a 43‑year‑old woman, her 19‑year‑old daughter and a 16‑year‑old adolescent – who were detained shortly after the attack. A knife roughly 20 cm long was recovered about 30 metres from the scene, while the alleged hoe was not found. The victim was taken to the Unidade de Pronto Atendimento Coronel Antonino, where she remains in intensive care awaiting surgery. The case is being treated as attempted homicide and remains under investigation by the Civil Police.
