Woman killed in Santa Catarina despite panic button activation
A 38-year-old woman, identified as Daiana Gisele Müller, was killed in Ipira, in western Santa Catarina, less than an hour after activating a police panic button. Her body was discovered on a bridge in the Linha Capelinha area with stab wounds.
Müller had previously sought protection from the authorities on October 8, following threats. A court order had been granted on October 9, which prohibited her ex-partner from contacting her and required him to maintain a minimum distance of 100 meters.
Upon arriving at the victim's residence, police found the home had been broken into. The suspect, the victim's ex-husband, later surrendered to the Military Police in Presidente Castello Branco, where he admitted to the killing. He was arrested in flagrante and remains in custody as the Civil Police investigate the circumstances of the crime and potential violations of the protective order.
