Woman killed in shooting during alleged robbery in Acayucan, Veracruz

Ana Libia Gutiérrez Reyes, a 32‑year‑old resident of Soteapan, was shot in the throat while traveling on the San Miguel‑Buenavista rural road near Acayucan, Veracruz, on the night of 1 August. According to local police, armed men blocked her vehicle, attempted to rob her, and fired when she resisted. She was taken by family members to the Regional Hospital Oluta‑Acayucan but was pronounced dead upon arrival due to the severity of the wound.

The scene was secured by the Secretaría de Marina, and the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) began an investigation. Security forces from municipal, state and federal levels have launched an operation to locate the perpetrators, but no arrests have been reported so far.
