Woman kills partner in Espírito Santo, claims self‑defence against attempted rape
A 48‑year‑old woman was arrested after fatally beating a 59‑year‑old man with a wooden object in Conceição do Castelo, a town in the Serra region of Espírito Santo, Brazil. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. The woman told police she had been repeatedly assaulted by the victim and that she struck him in the head to defend herself from a new physical attack and an alleged attempt at sexual violence. She confessed to the killing, was taken to a hospital for treatment of her own injuries, and then transferred to the regional police station, where she was formally charged with homicide and placed in custody. The victim’s body was sent to the forensic laboratory for examination.
Authorities noted that the wooden piece used in the attack was not recovered at the scene. The case is being investigated by the local civil police.
