Driver in Cabras, Italy throws gasoline at police, arrested
During a routine traffic check in the town of Cabras, Oristano province, two road police officers stopped a vehicle whose driver showed clear signs of alcohol intoxication and was driving without a licence. A passenger also tried to impede the officers.
The driver then retrieved a gasoline can from his car, poured the flammable liquid onto an officer and the police vehicle, and attempted to ignite the can with a lighter, creating a sudden flame. The officer quickly stepped back and, using swift reflexes, grabbed the can and threw it away, preventing further damage. Firefighters arrived to secure the police car.
The man was arrested on charges of resisting a public official and attempted arson. The Oristano court confirmed the arrest and imposed a signing‑obligation order on the offender.
