Women Game Developers Highlighted in Latin America and Spain
A new Kickstarter campaign led by researcher Victoria “Cataxis” Pérez aims to publish *25 Mujeres Haciendo Videojuegos en Latinoamérica*, a book documenting 25 women who have shaped the video‑game industry across Mexico and the broader Latin American region. The project builds on Pérez’s eight‑year documentation effort, which includes a database of more than 1,500 national titles and a prior study of Central America. The campaign seeks to raise 32,000 Mexican pesos to fund the first printed edition.
In Spain, women now account for over half of the country’s video‑game players, a shift that is reshaping the industry’s culture and market. The growing female presence is encouraging family‑oriented gaming experiences and increasing the number of women in development roles, influencing the design of new titles. Industry observers note that this trend is breaking long‑standing stereotypes and expanding creative perspectives within Spanish game studios.
