Women in Italy see rise in professional freelance roles

According to the 2024 X Report from the Confprofessioni Observatory, the number of women working as independent professionals in Italy has reached 510,000, marking a 19.9% increase over the last decade. Women now represent 37% of the country's 1.378 million independent professionals.

At a recent event in Milan, Rossella Mattielli, founder of Rossella Mattielli Srls, discussed the evolution of personal assistants into Private Life Managers. This new role involves applying high-level organizational, decisional, and relational skills to manage the private lives of individuals and families, including property, budgets, and family planning.

Data from Istat indicates that independent workers in Italy reached 5,292,000 in August 2024, an annual increase of 78,000. The shift toward managerial roles for female assistants reflects a broader trend of moving from purely executive tasks to more autonomous and responsible management positions.
