Women in music industry events held in Mexico and Cuba

The fifth edition of the Ibero-American Meeting of Women in the Music Industry (EIMIM 2026) has commenced, with events held in Mexico City and San Luis Potosí. The gathering focuses on addressing persistent inequalities within the music sector, fostering collaboration among female artists and professionals, and discussing music as a tool for social activism.

In Cuba, the second edition of the ‘Música es Mujer’ festival is also taking place. Organized by a collaborative network led by Hera de Cuba, the event aims to highlight the presence of women in the Cuban music industry, specifically focusing on their roles in musical roots and heritage conservation. The program includes academic sessions on management, new technologies, and legal rights regarding creation, alongside showcases for female-led musical proposals. The festival features prominent figures such as Eva Despaigne, Cary Diez, and Sonia Pérez Cassola to facilitate intergenerational dialogue between industry pioneers and younger artists.
