Women in rural Vietnam drive economic growth through cooperatives

Women in rural Vietnam are increasingly driving economic growth through new agricultural models and the establishment of cooperatives. In Son La province, Hoang Thi Nam founded the Dai Ngan Yen Son Cooperative, which manages approximately 12 hectares of diverse crops including vegetables and fruit. The cooperative focuses on shifting from individual farming to organized production to better access markets and stabilize product outlets.

Similar trends are observed in other regions where women are diversifying livelihoods. In Ha Tinh province, individuals are expanding into specialized livestock and aquaculture, such as raising Thai bamboo rats and converting abandoned salt lands into high-tech shrimp farming areas. These initiatives aim to improve household incomes and create local employment through modernized agricultural practices.
