Women protest in Çorum after fatal shooting of Yasemin Yanık
In Çorum's Osmancık district, a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal shooting. İsmail B. shot his wife, Yasemin Yanık, at the market where she worked. Following the attack, İsmail B. committed suicide with the same weapon. The couple, who were in the process of divorcing, had one child.
In response to the killing, women gathered at Osmancık Kent Meydanı for a silent sit-in protest. Participants demanded an end to violence against women and called for stronger protection mechanisms and social awareness. Spokesperson Gaye Arslanbaş emphasized that the protest was a way to give a voice to the deceased and to prevent further tragedies.
