Women receive awards for dignity and freedom in Italy
Several women have been honored in Italy for their contributions to social causes, professional excellence, and the fight against gender-based stereotypes.
In Portici, lawyer Rossana Colucci received the ‘Premio per la libertà e la dignità delle donne’ (Award for the Freedom and Dignity of Women). Awarded by the Polo Oncologico Mediterraneo, the recognition honors Colucci’s role as president of the cultural association Agorà, which promotes social engagement and addresses issues such as gender violence.
In Taranto, Olympic fencing champion Elisa Di Francisca was presented with the ‘donne, NON pupe’ (women, NOT dolls) award during the eleventh edition of Passerella Mediterranea. Di Francisca used the platform to share her personal experience overcoming a toxic relationship, encouraging women to reject control and possessiveness in favor of independence and self-love.
