Women’s Big Bash League prepares for 12th season

The 12th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is scheduled to run from 29 October to 5 December 2026. The tournament will feature 43 matches played over 38 days, involving eight franchises.

At the season launch in Sydney, Perth Scorchers captain Sophie Devine and Sydney Sixers veteran Ellyse Perry highlighted the competition's depth and unpredictability. Devine noted that the increasing standard of domestic players has made the league tighter, suggesting that any of the eight teams could potentially win the title.

The upcoming season follows the Hobart Hurricanes' victory in the 11th edition. With the retirement of Elyse Villani, the defending champions enter a new era, contributing to what players describe as a highly open and competitive landscape.
