Women’s Delhi Premier League begins third season
The third season of the Women’s Delhi Premier League (DPL) has commenced, highlighting significant growth in the regional women’s cricket ecosystem. Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), noted that the sport is expanding rapidly, with the domestic structure now including 48 club teams and a database of over 700 players.
In the tournament's opening match, the defending champions, South Delhi Superstarz, secured a 29-run victory over the Central Delhi Queens. The Superstarz posted 156/5, driven by half-centuries from Tanisha Singh (64) and Nishika Singh (50). In response, the Queens were restricted to 127/7, with Mayuri Singh taking 2/15 for the Superstarz.
