DFB-Pokal: Women's teams advance to round of 16

The first round of the DFB-Pokal women's tournament saw several major Bundesliga teams secure their places in the round of 16. FC Bayern Munich narrowly avoided an upset against second-division Borussia Mönchengladbach, winning 2-1. Vanessa Gilles scored both goals in the 74th and 80th minutes to overturn a first-half lead held by Gladbach.

VfL Wolfsburg delivered a dominant performance, defeating SC Sand 6-0 with goals from Ella Peddemors, Svenja Huth, Camilla Küver, and Lena Lattwein. Eintracht Frankfurt also secured a convincing 6-1 victory over Karlsruher SC, featuring a brace from Larissa Mühlhaus.

Other notable results included SV Werder Bremen's 1-0 win against VfL Bochum and SC Freiburg's 2-1 victory over SG 99 Andernach. VfB Stuttgart managed a 3-2 win against Turbine Potsdam in extra time. The round of 16 is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 2.
