Women's film festivals announced for Morocco and Tunisia
Two international women's film festivals are scheduled to take place in North Africa this autumn.
The 19th Salé International Women's Film Festival in Morocco will run from September 28 to October 3. This edition will pay tribute to the late Moroccan sociologist Fatima Mernissi and features Quebec cinema as an honored guest. The festival includes official competitions for fiction long films and documentaries, focusing on women's rights, aspirations, and social roles. International juries will preside over various categories, including a young audience prize.
In Tunisia, the 7th Biouyounihena International Women's Film Festival will be held from October 3 to 7 across Nabeul, Hammamet, and Bouargoub. Organized by the Tunisian Federation of Cine-Clubs, the event focuses on themes of hope and female perspectives. The program includes a competition of 19 short films, masterclasses, and workshops such as 'Minute Lumière' and pitch sessions. Discussions will also cover contemporary topics like artificial intelligence and the evolution of cinematic professions.
