Women's film festivals highlight diverse global narratives

International women's film festivals are highlighting diverse narratives through various documentary and feature film selections.

The 23rd edition of Filmfest FrauenWelten, which moved from Tübingen to Berlin in 2020, showcased films addressing the complexities of women's lived experiences. Notable screenings included ‘Unruly’, a film based on true events regarding a Danish institution for girls, and ‘Angry Annie’, which explores reproductive rights in 20th-century France.

In South Korea, the 28th Seoul International Women’s Film Festival is scheduled for August 20–26, 2026. The festival lineup includes short films such as ‘Lessons in Progress’, which examines the experience of teaching feminism at a national arts university, and ‘My Killer Erotic Video’, which deals with trauma and campus safety.
