Delhi Police HQ protested over alleged sexual violence against demonstrators

Women's rights and queer organizations held a joint protest march to the Delhi Police Headquarters on Saturday. The demonstrators are demanding strict legal and disciplinary action against police personnel accused of sexual harassment and physical violence against women and transgender protesters.

The protests are linked to demonstrations against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the conduct of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Organizations including the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), and the All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA) participated in the march.

CPI leader Annie Raja accused the government of using sexual assault as a weapon to silence women participating in public protests. Protesters cited documented instances of misconduct occurring since July 20, with an increase in reported incidents since October 2. A delegation met with Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagdev Singh to submit a memorandum regarding the allegations.
