Women's health funding and policy updates in Denmark and Norway
In Denmark, Region Syddanmark has announced a new budget agreement aimed at improving women's health. The initiative includes establishing a multidisciplinary center for women with chronic pelvic pain, a new fertility plan, and enhanced support for pregnant employees. Notably, the region is allocating an additional 4 million DKK annually to postpartum services across four birthing locations to improve the continuity of care for women experiencing birth injuries or psychological distress.
In Norway, the Endometrioseforeningen has expressed disappointment regarding the 2027 state budget. The organization requested a 10 million NOK grant under the Norwegian Directorate of Health to provide stable funding for patient-oriented work. They argue that without dedicated public funding, organizations supporting women with endometriosis, adenomyosis, and related conditions must rely on membership fees and private donations, effectively leaving patients to fund their own support services.
