Women's health workshops address menopause and perimenopause
The 49th workshop of the ‘My Best Years’ program was held in Kraljevo, focusing on the multifaceted nature of perimenopause and menopause. The event addressed the transition through three primary lenses: gynecology, nutrition, and mental health. Experts, including gynecologist Dr. Tamara Anđelković, nutrition specialist Dr. Danijela Karamarković, and psychiatrist Dr. Zorica Tufegdžić, discussed how hormonal changes intersect with dietary needs and psychological well-being.
Discussions also covered broader health topics such as heart health, memory, skin and hair care, and the importance of prevention. The workshop aimed to provide reliable information to help women understand the physical and emotional changes occurring during this life stage.
Complementary research into sexual health during menopause highlights that while hormonal shifts like decreased estrogen and testosterone can affect libido, many individuals experience improved sexual satisfaction after age 50. Studies indicate that 37% of respondents report better sex than in their younger years, and 16% report increased desire. Physical health practices, such as Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, are noted as effective methods for improving sexual wellness during this period.
