Women's leadership and cultural memory initiatives launched in Costa Rica and Bolivia

In Costa Rica, the first National Meeting of Women and Tourism, titled ‘Huellas que Transforman’, was held to highlight the role of women in sustainable and inclusive tourism. The event was a collaborative effort between the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the State University for Distance Education (UNED), and several other regional and international organizations. The meeting aimed to promote collaboration networks and recognize how women's leadership in rural areas contributes to cultural conservation and local economic development.

In Bolivia, the Pando department has launched the ‘Cartas para la Memoria Colectiva’ initiative as part of the ‘Forjadoras de Historia – Mujeres del Bicentenario’ cultural project. Supported by the organization Illa, the French Embassy, and the Pando Government, the project invites citizens to write letters documenting the lives and impacts of women in their communities. The goal is to preserve the collective memory of both prominent historical figures and everyday women who have shaped the history of the region and the country.
