Women's leadership and rights addressed in Angola and Mozambique

In Angola, Emília Carlota Dias, Secretary-General of the Organização da Mulher Angolana (OMA), has called for organized preparation ahead of the MPLA’s 9th Ordinary Congress and the 2027 General Elections. Speaking in Tômbwa, Dias emphasized the need for a methodological approach to evaluate management progress, identify organizational gaps, and ensure female militants are well-informed to combat disinformation.

In Mozambique, Governor Judite Massengele has raised alarms regarding the persistent challenges facing women in the Niassa province. During Pan-African Women's Day commemorations, Massengele highlighted issues such as premature unions, gender-based violence, school dropout rates, and economic discrimination. Data indicates a rise in gender-based violence cases, with 1,316 reported in 2025 compared to 1,286 in 2024.
