Women's national volleyball teams compete in Asian championships
The Chinese Taipei women's national volleyball team secured a dominant victory against Macau in their opening match of the 2026 Asian Eastern Zone Volleyball Championship in Hong Kong. The team won in straight sets with scores of 25-9, 25-10, and 25-13, completing the match in just 54 minutes. Notably, Wen Yi-chin made her return to the national team after a six-year absence, contributing 11 points to the win.
Meanwhile, the Japanese women's national volleyball team held a public practice session in Tokyo in preparation for the upcoming Asian Championship in Tianjin, China. The tournament, which begins on August 21, serves as a critical pathway for teams to secure qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Team captain Ishikawa Mayu emphasized the importance of precision and consistency as the squad aims to secure an Olympic berth.
