Discussions regarding women's rights and the preservation of female suffrage have gained prominence in recent social and political discourse in Portugal and Brazil.

In Portugal, singer Iolanda addressed the rise of sexist narratives during an interview on the ‘Posto Emissor’ podcast. She criticized movements that advocate for women to be submissive to men, asserting that feminism seeks equity rather than the reduction of men's rights. Iolanda emphasized that current social progress is a result of long-standing struggles for rights.

In Brazil, an investigation has highlighted a digital ecosystem of influencers targeting women's voting rights. Content circulating on social media has questioned the quality of female suffrage, with some influencers suggesting that women's votes contribute to societal issues. Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Minister Cármen Lúcia noted that while such speech is protected under democratic freedom, any attempt to abolish the universal right to vote would be unconstitutional and would require the dismantling of the nation's Constitution.
