Women’s Super League updates: New U.S. broadcast rights and club scrutiny

A new broadcasting agreement will change how fans in the United States access the Women’s Super League (WSL). Starting with the 2026-2027 season, CBS Sports will hold the rights to broadcast the league through the 2029-2030 season. Paramount+ is set to stream all 183 matches of the 14-team league, while CBS Sports Network will televise one featured match weekly. Select matches will also be available via the ad-supported CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Separately, Manchester United Women has faced scrutiny regarding investment, training facilities, and player departures. While the club has dealt with criticism over moving the women’s squad to temporary accommodation and losing key staff, reports suggest these challenges are not unique to United. Other major WSL clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham, and Tottenham, have also faced similar scrutiny regarding underinvestment and infrastructure at various times.
