The Women’s T20 Asia Cup has seen various host nations since transitioning to the T20 format in 2012. Previous hosts include China, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. India Women has secured three titles, while Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have each won once.

Looking ahead, the United Arab Emirates is scheduled to host the 2026 edition, with all matches set to take place in Dubai.

Hong Kong's women's cricket team is preparing for their return to the tournament after qualifying via the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia. Having last appeared in 2012, the team now holds official T20I status. Captain Natasha Miles stated the team aims to relish the opportunity to compete against high-profile opponents such as India and Pakistan.
