Wonkwang University researchers receive multiple academic awards
Wonkwang University and its affiliated hospital have achieved multiple honors at recent academic conferences.
At the 2026 Korean Association of Occupational Therapists academic conference, the Department of Occupational Therapy received several awards, including Capstone Design Excellence and Idea awards. Notable research included a study on feeding posture assistance tools using recognition technology and investigations into elderly driver licensing and community physical activity programs. Graduate students also earned top honors for research on Parkinson's disease interventions and the development of swallowing disorder risk assessment tools for the elderly.
Additionally, residents from Wonkwang University Hospital's Department of Mental Health received Excellent Poster awards at specialized medical conferences. Resident Choi Da-hyun was recognized by the Korean Neuropsychopharmacology Association for research on electrophysiological characteristics in adolescents at risk for bipolar disorder. Resident Kim Dae-eun received an award from the Korean Bipolar Disorder Association for a study analyzing the links between cholesterol levels, tau pathology, and hippocampal atrophy in APOE ε4 carriers, utilizing both US and Korean cohort data.
