Wonogiri farmers utilize receding Gajah Mungkur Reservoir for rice cultivation

Farmers in Wonogiri, Central Java, are utilizing receding water levels at the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir to establish new agricultural land. During the dry season, the shrinking reservoir exposes previously submerged soil, which local farmers are now transforming into productive rice fields.

Using tractors to plow the newly exposed land, farmers are planting rice seedlings with the expectation of a harvest in approximately three months, depending on weather conditions. This seasonal shift allows residents to turn non-productive areas into a source of additional family income.
