Wood County hosts cornhole tournament to support local families

The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. is organizing a county-wide cornhole tournament fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Wooster Green in Bowling Green. Partnering with Bowling Green Kiwanis and Bowling Green State University, the event supports the ‘Grandparents Raising Grandchildren’ holiday project, which provides gifts to grandchildren aged 17 and under being raised by grandparents in Wood County.

The tournament features three divisions—business, campus life, and community—and follows a double elimination format. Registration fees are $25 for two-member teams and $15 for single players. Beyond the competition, attendees can participate in a 50/50 raffle or visit food trucks.

Additionally, the Wood County Senior Center has announced its upcoming schedule of activities and meal services. Programs include various fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi, alongside social activities like bingo, card games, and craft sessions. The center provides nutritional services, including lunch and dinner options, with a policy ensuring no person over 60 is denied services due to an inability to pay.
