Wood Processing Factories in Central and East Java Burn in Major Fires

A large fire erupted at a triple‑k plywood plant in the village of Tegalrejo, Tengaran district, Semarang, Central Java, just after 01:00 on 2 August 2026. The blaze, fueled by stored wood and chemicals, consumed roughly half of the facility within half an hour. Ten fire‑engine units from Semarang, Salatiga and Boyolali were deployed, and firefighters battled the flames for more than eight hours to prevent spread to nearby residential areas.

Later, on 31 July 2026, a fire broke out at the filter‑chimney of PT Wahyu Daya Mulya in Dusun Bakalan, Pulorejo village, Ngoro district, Jombang, East Java. The incident was spotted by a plant worker at about 08:30 and quickly contained using on‑site fire extinguishers and hydrants. A fire‑pumper truck arrived around 09:10, and the blaze was fully extinguished by 10:15 after thorough cooling of the chimney area. Both incidents were handled promptly by local fire‑fighter teams, averting larger damage.
