Woodland Hills High School fires football coach Brian Tarrant

Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh has fired football coach Brian Tarrant following a period of unexplained absence from the sidelines. Tarrant, who had led the Wolverines for four seasons, was notably absent during the second and third games of the current season.

Interim superintendent Denise Sedlacek stated that the decision followed a review of information regarding “violations of WPIAL/PIAA guidelines.” While the district emphasized its commitment to compliance and integrity, officials noted that further details would not be released as the matter is considered a personnel issue. The WPIAL board of directors is expected to discuss the school’s response to off-season violations and social media posts related to the football program.

Tarrant leaves a successful tenure, having achieved a 20-9 record over three seasons and securing conference championships. Assistant coaches Maurice Walker and Steve Meyer have been managing the team's offense and defense during his absence.
