Woodward Inc. shares tumble despite strong earnings, narrowed aerospace outlook
Woodward Inc., a Fort Collins‑based manufacturer of energy‑control solutions, reported fiscal third‑quarter revenue of $1.1 billion, up 21% year over year, and net earnings of $147 million, or $2.52 per share, a 35% increase. The results beat analysts’ expectations and the company raised its full‑year earnings guidance. Chairman and CEO Chip Blankenship said the company delivered “outstanding third‑quarter results” and highlighted durable demand across its portfolio.
Despite the strong performance, Woodward’s stock fell about 13% since Tuesday, closing at $358.28. Institutional investors continued to add to their positions: Argent Capital Management LLC increased its stake by 58.4% to 16,806 shares worth roughly $6 million, while other firms such as State Street Corp, Geode Capital Management, Artisan Partners, Invesco Ltd. and Sei Investments also raised holdings in recent quarters.
