Woody Allen begins filming 51st movie in Madrid

Director Woody Allen has commenced filming his 51st feature film in Madrid, Spain. The veteran filmmaker, aged 90, selected the city for its elegant atmosphere and architecture, which he noted is well-suited to the diplomatic tone of his new story.

The production is supported by funding from the Madrid City Council and the regional government. Local authorities expect the project to have a significant economic impact, potentially generating approximately 1,200 direct jobs and 2,300 indirect jobs. The film's title is required to include the word 'Madrid'.

Allen, known for works such as 'Annie Hall' and 'Midnight in Paris', has increasingly filmed in Europe in recent years. His return to major production follows a period of professional isolation in his native United States following past allegations of sexual misconduct, for which he was never legally prosecuted.
