Woody Allen to film 51st movie in Madrid

Director Woody Allen is set to begin filming his 51st feature film in Madrid, Spain, on October 5. The project, described as a contemporary romantic comedy involving intrigue and infidelity, is provisionally titled ‘WASP 2026’ or will include ‘Madrid’ in its final title per local agreements.

The production is supported by approximately three million euros in funding from the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council, aimed at promoting the city as an international filming destination. Filming will take place across more than 30 locations in Madrid and the nearby town of Aranjuez over a six-week period.

The ensemble cast includes Marton Csokas, Jemima Kirke, Alexi Wasser, Peter Vives, and Jakob Oftebro. During a recent press presentation attended by Madrid President Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Allen noted that Madrid’s elegant and diplomatic atmosphere was the ideal setting for his story. While Allen stated he is not a political filmmaker, he expressed personal concern regarding the rise of fascism globally.
