Woody Allen to film new comedy in Madrid and Aranjuez

Director Woody Allen is set to begin filming a new contemporary comedy in Spain on October 5, 2026. The production will be filmed entirely within the Madrid region, primarily utilizing locations in the capital city and the historic UNESCO World Heritage site of Aranjuez.

The film's title is expected to include the word ‘Madrid’. The project is supported by the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council, with the former providing a subsidy of approximately 1.5 million euros. In exchange, the production must include at least 15% exterior shots of Madrid's streets and locations.

The cast features Alexi Wasser, Jemima Kirke, Peter Vives, Marton Csokas, and Jakob Oftebro. Produced by Wanda Visión, Gravier Productions Inc., and 3Six9 Studios, the film is estimated to have a budget of 14 million euros. The production is expected to generate roughly 1,200 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs during its estimated six-month filming period.
