Woori Financial Group Sets H2 Strategy to Accelerate Bank Profitability and Customer Growth

Chairman Im Jong-ryong led Woori Financial Group's half‑year management strategy workshop at the group's Seoul headquarters on the 16th. He urged faster execution, stressing that only organizations that move more quickly will thrive. The plan targets a recovery of the banking unit's profitability, strengthening core deposit and corporate‑banking businesses, and improving cost efficiency.

Im also directed non‑bank subsidiaries to boost competitiveness and to diversify the group's revenue base. The group will intensify risk management, placing non‑performing loans and distressed assets under special oversight. An AI transformation programme will be expanded to enhance IT security and consumer protection. Productive finance support has reached 82.5% of its 2023 target, and the "Future Co‑Growth Project" funding goal has been raised from 80 trillion to 90 trillion won. Customer acquisition was highlighted as the pillar of growth, with initiatives across banking, insurance, securities and card businesses. Im reaffirmed the importance of internal controls, consumer protection, and support for financially vulnerable customers.
