Wootton Bridge road to close for London plane tree maintenance

The Isle of Wight Council and Island Roads have scheduled specialist maintenance for a large London plane tree located at the entrance to Lakeside in Wootton Bridge. The work aims to extend the tree's lifespan and mitigate safety risks caused by a weak joint in a large overhanging branch that could potentially fall on motorists or pedestrians.

To facilitate the work safely, the main road through Wootton Bridge will close overnight on Monday, October 5, and Tuesday, October 6, between 7:30 pm and 6:30 am. If weather conditions permit, the project is expected to be completed during the first night.

A diversion route will be in place via Station Road, Briddlesford Road, The Downs, Ashey Road, Swanmore, Argyle Street, Binstead Road, and Elenors Grove. Southern Vectis will implement service changes for routes between Ryde, Fishbourne Lane, Newport, and Wootton Cedars. Access to The Tide Mill remains available from the Ryde direction.
