Worcester police officer Kurt Solomon honored at funeral

A funeral mass was held Wednesday for Kurt Solomon, a 57-year-old veteran Worcester Police officer and U.S. Army veteran, following his death at his home on August 18. Solomon was a 31-year veteran of the department and a lifelong resident of Worcester.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide. Police Chief Paul Saucier stated that preliminary findings suggest Solomon was killed by his wife, Karen Solomon, 58. Following the discovery of Kurt Solomon's body, a multi-agency search was launched for Karen Solomon. Her body was discovered on Tuesday in a wooded area behind Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, with a handgun found nearby.

The funeral service at Our Lady of the Angels Church included a procession led by police motorcycles from various Massachusetts municipalities. Solomon is survived by two sons, two brothers, and his mother.
