WordPress Foundation assumes presidency of Open Website Alliance

The WordPress Foundation has assumed the presidency of the Open Website Alliance (OWA). The Alliance is a collaborative group comprising the community organizations behind major open-source content management systems, including Drupal, Joomla!, TYPO3, and WordPress.

The OWA serves to advocate for open-source software and facilitate the sharing of best practices among its members. A key focus of the Alliance's recent activity involves responding to the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act. The group aims to ensure that policymakers recognize the economic importance of content management systems—which power business-to-customer interactions—when establishing security requirements, while also protecting the collaborative nature of developer and contributor communities.
