WordPress launches official browser extension

WordPress has released an official, open-source browser extension available for Google Chrome, Chromium-based browsers, and Safari on macOS.

The extension is designed to address the visual and functional limitations of the standard WordPress admin bar. While the admin bar provides quick access to dashboards and editors, it occupies the viewport, which can interfere with site design elements like sticky headers or scroll-driven effects. The extension allows logged-in users to hide the admin bar to view a site as a visitor would, while maintaining access to essential shortcuts via the browser toolbar.

Additional features include the ability to quickly identify if a website is running WordPress, easy access to all of a user's WordPress sites, and specialized tools for developers and content creators to test and review sites directly from the browser.
