Worker climbs Royal Palm Otel roof to protest unpaid wages
A subcontractor worker, identified as Ömer Öztürk, climbed onto the roof of the Royal Palm Otel in Alanya, Antalya, to protest unpaid wages. Öztürk stated that his failure to receive payments has led to severe financial hardship, including the seizure of assets at his home.
Following the incident, police, fire, and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. Police established security perimeters around the hotel, while firefighters prepared measures to prevent a potential fall or jump. Authorities are currently engaged in negotiations to persuade Öztürk to descend safely.
This incident follows previous labor disputes at the same hotel. In recent weeks, groups of approximately 10 to 15 workers had gathered in front of the establishment to protest similar claims of unpaid wages for renovation and installation work. No official statement has yet been released by the hotel or company management regarding the current situation.
